Episode 6: Dr Alexander Lyon

Consultant Cardiologist at the Royal Brompton Hospital and Senior Lecturer in Cardiology at Imperial College, Dr Alexander Lyon knows a thing or two about the heart. From the start of the pandemic he has been seeing the impact that the virus has on the heart, and how the residual effects of it have lingered in Long Covid patients. He talks us through the physiology, from the basics of how the heart works, to the various impacts caused by the inflammation of the disease and how to spot them. Alongside his highly technical knowledge he offers practical advice on what to look for, how to seek treatment and what we should (and shouldn’t) be doing to rehabilitate this critical organ.
